Sri Lestari, S.S., M.A., Serves as Moderator in the “Sastra Bentara Bincang Buku” Program
In November 2025, Bentara Budaya Bali once again presented its Sastra Bentara Bincang Buku program, this time featuring a discussion of “Awas Kucing Hilang,” a work by Rayni N. Massardi. First published in 2010, the book has been given new life through a 2025 reissue by Firaz Media, enriched with additional stories and fresh illustrations by Christyan AS.
The book discussion, held at Gramedia Bali Teuku Umar, featured three main speakers:
-
Rayni Massardi – Author of Awas Kucing Hilang–Lalat Cintaku,
-
Christyan AS – Book illustrator,
-
Made Edy Arudi – Poet and educator.
On this occasion, Sri Lestari, S.S., M.A., lecturer from the History Study Program at Udayana University, was entrusted with the role of moderator. She guided the discussion warmly and with clear structure, creating space for the speakers to delve deeper into the creative process, symbolic contexts, and the messages embedded in the work.
The discussion unfolded dynamically. Rayni, Christyan, and Made Edy Arudi invited readers and participants to explore the symbolic layers and inner world crafted within the narrative—from the missing cat to the absurd figure of the “love fly.” These elements intertwine as allegories of loss, affection, human relationships, and the courage to laugh at life’s ironies.
Through this event, Bentara Budaya Bali and Gramedia Bali reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening literary discourse and bringing together writers, illustrators, educators, and readers in an inspiring forum for cultural and intellectual engagement.
