Area Studies Workshop by the History Study Program at Udayana University

The History Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, organized an Area Studies Workshop on August 3, 2026, under the theme “Area Studies: Concepts, Strategies, and Understanding International Relations for a Better Future.” The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of Area Studies as a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing the dynamics of international relations and global issues.

The workshop featured three distinguished speakers: Prof. Ekmel Gecer from Marmara University, Türkiye; Prof. Dr. Sudarman, S.Hum., M.A. from UIN Imam Bonjol Padang; and Prof. Dr. phil. I Ketut Ardhana, Coordinator of the History Study Program at Udayana University. The event was chaired by Putu Dyah Pradnya Paramitha, S.S., M.A., and attended by lecturers, students, and participants from various higher education institutions.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Udayana University, Prof. I Nyoman Aryawibawa, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of strengthening Area Studies as part of the development of historical and social sciences in the face of global challenges.

Through this workshop, it is hoped that broader academic collaborations will be established and that participants will gain deeper insights into the development of Area Studies at both the national and international levels.
