The History Study Program of Universitas Udayana conducted a Field Research Practice (PPL) on 16 October 2025 in the Ubud area, Gianyar. This activity is an integral part of the academic curriculum designed to provide students with direct experience in conducting historical research in the field, while strengthening their methodological and analytical skills.

The PPL activity was led by the PPL Coordinator, I Kadek Surya Jayadi, S.S., M.A., with direct supervision from the Coordinator of the History Study Program, Anak Agung Inten Asmariati, S.S., M.Si. In addition, the activity was also supported by several other lecturers from the History Study Program, who participated in guiding students, providing technical assistance, and strengthening research materials during the fieldwork.

During the implementation, students carried out observation, interviews, and documentation related to the historical dynamics, cultural practices, and tourism development in Ubud as one of Bali’s cultural centers. The research focused on cultural heritage preservation, the role of local communities in cultural management, and socio-historical transformations resulting from tourism growth.

The PPL Coordinator, I Kadek Surya Jayadi, S.S., M.A., emphasized that this activity serves as an important opportunity for students to apply historical research theories in real settings, while training their critical and analytical thinking skills when dealing with field data. Meanwhile, Study Program Coordinator, Anak Agung Inten Asmariati, S.S., M.Si., stated that the PPL program is one of the study program’s strategies to improve the quality of learning and produce competent graduates who are sensitive to historical issues within society.

Students showed high enthusiasm throughout the activity, demonstrated through their active involvement in data collection and field discussions with supervising lecturers. The presence of several other lecturers also added value to the activity through shared research experience, methodological approaches, and diverse academic perspectives.

Through this program, students are expected to develop more comprehensive historical research skills that are relevant to academic needs and societal contexts. The History Study Program of Universitas Udayana hopes that the implementation of PPL will continue to grow through collaboration with various partners, contributing significantly to cultural preservation and the development of historical studies in Bali.

This activity reflects the study program’s commitment to carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the fields of education and research.
